On a sunny April Saturday 9 teams from 1st Finchampstead set out to conquer the 3 Towers Hike. This included 5 teams in the Scout event, one team in the Scout Plus event [a new event for older Scouts over 40 Kilometres] and 3 leader teams taking on the 70K Classic Event. All turned up looking keen and eager but knowing that a long day lay ahead. And so for the results: |

The first draw of the 100 Club was held at Finchbase late last month following a bell ringing evening with the Leopards Cubs. Councillor Gordon Veitch made the draw, with the first 3 lucky winners being Christine Collins, Mike Mulrain and Isi Kent. |

The Wokingham Winter Carnival took place at the end of November in the worst weather I can remember. Thank you to all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who turned out and put on a great show - you did 1st Finch proud yet again! |

This year, 2009, marks the 90th anniversary of the 1st Finchampstead Scout Group, started as a Wolf Cub pack in early 1919. |

A large number of the Group's members paraded for Remembrance Sunday this afternoon. It's splendid to see so many of our young people remembering those who fought for our freedom. After the parade we also planted a tree in the Memorial Park to celebrate our 90th anniversary. |

This year’s Finchampstead Remembrance Day Parade is on Sunday 8th November. The march to the War Memorial starts at 2:30pm from the Memorial Hall in Finchampstead - please meet there by 2:15pm.
