Go Karts - Out of Newspaper! You must be Mad
Thats what 23 Cubs & Scouts from 79th Reading thought when they where given their challenge!
Thanks to Jeremy King (www.jeremykingengineeringinschools.co.uk) & his Stixx Machines the Cubs & Scouts where set a Challenge to design and build a Go-Kart using Newspaper as a Raw Material.
Through using the Stixx machines to compress the rolls of Newspaper; some 6hrs later each team had a Go-Kart to race!
The Challenge brought the Cubs & Scouts together and everyone played their part in the team. What a Fantastic end to the Christmas sleepover.
Well Done 79th!

Sandhurst Scout Group on TV
Well their flag was anyway ? if not the children. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from 3rd Sandhurst (Memorial Park) Scout Group were the guard of honour at the recent game at Madejski Stadium, when Reading played Cardiff. The fact that their team lost 2-1 didnt seem to upset the children who had an enjoyable experience waving the flags before the game. A very visible example of Scouting being out there infront of the public.
